The UK Government Darwin Initiative is supporting a three year project entitled “enabling Montserrat to save the Critically Endangered mountain chicken” (Ref 18-018). This project provides the basis for the field restoration efforts and is divided into four main components: 1) establishing the evidence base for the restoration of the species in Montserrat, 2) a series of trial re-introductions 3) development of a long term restoration strategy and 4) establishment of a collaborative environment between the people of Montserrat and the restoration project.
We would also like to gratefully acknowledge the support of: The Net Trust (Jersey), The Balcombe Trust, The Dennis Curry Charitable Trust, the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), The People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES).
